Camping trip and the "Poopy Baby"

Last day of Pre-school, camping/road trip... fun stuff!  Ronin's last day of preschool was the 15th!  He's super excited to start his new school and be a kindergartener :)  I'm excited for him!  Nana came up for a visit and was able to help us do a little school clothes shopping, even with Quinny screaming in the shopping cart.  :( 

 

While Nana was visiting we watched the Avengers movie with her.  I asked Ronin "who's the guy with the bow and arrow?" and he answered "Hot Guy".  I laughed and asked him, "Hot Guy?".  "Yes, his name is Hot Guy."  We thought maybe Cheyla had a thing for him and just started calling him Hot Guy and Ronin thought that was his name...  After a while I looked it up on my phone, and found out his name is actually "Hawkeye".  I tried telling Ronin this, but he still insists that his name is "Hot Guy".  ;) 

 

Ronin drew this of him and his friend Avi, she's a couple years older - that would explain why she's much taller in this picture ;)  It was nice to see a picture that was happy instead of zombies and monsters!

After Nana's visit over the weekend we took off Tuesday morning to go camping up north at a place called Ike Kinswa campground.  There was a lake to swim in, a river to fish and little places to hike/ride bikes.  It was very clean and a great campground to stay at.  The next day we left early to drive by Mt. Raineer to our next campspot - Little Naches River.  Lots of hiking and fishing there, but also a lot of yellow jackets :(  Nobody was stung, thank goodness.  But they made cooking nearly impossible.  Because of them we went to a restaurant for dinner that night.  During our quiet restaurant experience, Quinny thought it would be funny to tell the bus boy "HI Poopy Baby!".  When he saw the people around him laughing, he decided it would be okay to say "poopy baby" over and over and over again...   I was crying from laughing so hard, but dying because it was so embarassing at the same time.  Every time I'd cover his mouth with my hand, I'd go to uncover his mouth and the next word would come out...

Our first long hike we drove the Jeep up some forest roads and had to hike up a small mountain (hill?).  Quinny did awesome and walked most of it by himself.  We had to carry him at the point where there was a drop off to one side though.  Rory was looking for thunder eggs... and we didn't find any this time. But it was a nice little forest hike.

This, Quinny's second hike, wasn't as much fun for him. His little legs were too tired to walk it by himself, so we had to carry him - a lot. We were trying to get to the cave, and what I thought was 1/4 of a mile... was really 3/4 of a mile and when we saw the cave from up on a hill, we decided not to go all the way down since we'd have to carry Quinn all the way back UP again.

So, there's the cave- way down there.

He didn't want me holding him, he wanted down...

And "down" was where there was a steep drop off on either side if he got off the platform... :(

Much to our chagrin... Ronin bought a whole season of Scooby-Doo and rented two movies without our knowledge before we left on the camping trip.  In his defense, he can't read and didn't know he was buying anything...  I have now learned to put the parentrol control locks on our Kindle Fire...  So about $40 later -- I was able to download his new shows onto the Kindle so he could watch them in the car without being connected to the internet... he loved this immensely ;)

 

Our last night we spent with Nana and Papa in Goldendale.  Lots of food for everyone to fill up on and a hot shower/bath for everybody, and the kids got to entertain the dogs and Nana and Papa.  This made for a nice end to our trip :)

That's not all we came home to... Kiera is a little Neurotic... and tore up our wall/door frame while we were gone... bad dog! We would have taken her if we had more room in the Jeep, but with 4 people and bags for everyone + food and gear, it wasn't going to happen... At least we were missed.

This week we started (finally!) painting the front of the house.  Of course today it's raining... but at least we got a start on it!  :)

Ronin has a "meet the teacher" event tonight at his new school.  He starts Kindergarten on Wednesday of next week!  Fun things!

Rumor Has It

This last weekend our camping trip got rained out.  But that was probably for the better since everyone was being lazy anyway.  On Friday night Rory, me and two of my girlfriends got free tickets to the fair and a concert.  The band was called the Avett Brothers, they were really good live and even though they are a blue-grass band I really enjoyed them :)

 

I got the tickets through some kind of promotion they offered everyone at my work, so here's me picking up my 4 plus two other co-workers tickets, I thought I looked pretty gangsta... only instead of money I have a bunch of tickets... ha ha

So there was this at the fair...

My phone doesn't take good night shots, but I thought this was kind of neat.

 

We were pretty laid back all weekend just watching some movies and playing with the boys. We went for a bike ride one day to go play at Ronin's new school.  Quinn was able to swing by himself - holding onto the chains, I was pretty impressed!

 

 

 

 

Quinny is in love with the song "Rumor Has it" by Adelle... if you don't know the song, here is a link to it... Rumor Has It by Adelle  So all weekend Quinn would just yell or sing "RUMOR HAS IT!" and wait for us to fire it up on the laptop and repeat just that one song.  He'd dance and sing the chorus, it was so funny!  Everytime I tried to record him doing it he'd get distracted and stop though.

We got our CD with the family pictures on it, here are some "extras" they did with the picture, changing it to black and white and making collages... I just have to send them to Costco to print now!

 

 

 

 

 

We are going on a road trip soon for our vacation!  We aren't sure where we are going yet, but we are hoping to go North and do a little exploring and camping with the boys since it's cheap and we have fun doing those sorts of things :)

Family pictures and Fair time!

Family Pictures!  I finally caved and bought a "groupon" online coupon for JC Penny's portrait studio.  We weren't in the studio for more than 10 minutes and I'm really suprised that the photographer was able to get such good smiles on the boys!  We are pretty happy with them and get our prints and the CD on Thursday.  These "proofs" are super small... but you can see how they look at least :)

 

 

Ronin kind of hates the shirt I made him wear for pictures... yup, the one with buttons.  After I MADE him put it on, he looked at me with a sad face and said he wished he was bitten by a python now so he could die quickly.   haha!  Drama queen!  I think he looks nice!  The first thing he did was take it off when we got home...

 

That evening we went to the Clark County Fair with the boys and Grandma/pa Jones.  We got to watch the "Dock Dogs" jump for distance into a pool of water, we ate, visited the vendors, and then finally went on rides and played games.  We didn't get home until 9:30, and Quinny was pretty out of it at the end, but he'd cry when a ride was over because he wanted to keep riding.

I had a turkey leg, which is about the only fair food I could eat that is "Paleo" there...

Sunday afternoon we decided to go play in the sand at the beach on the river.  Everyone went swimming, it wasn't as cold as it has been, Quinn thought it was pretty cold though.  He'd only go in to his butt. 

 

While Quinn was napping on Sunday, Ronin and I made a Scooby Doo cake - to practice for his birthday.  I ordered the cake pan on ebay last week it was at the door on Saturday :)  It turned out okay, but it was much harder than it looked to get it to look like Scooby!

One evening Rory locked himself out of the house and had to wait for me to get home, and while he was sitting in the swing outside, Axl climbed the tree to look at him.  Funny picture :)

 



Summers moving fast, it's almost time for Ronin to start school!   We are taking the 19-23rd of August off to get some painting done on the house and to go camping with the boys.  I think we'll go camping this next weekend and the following weekend do some school clothes shopping for Ronin... and then bam- it'll be September!  Crazyness...  It's been a good summer so far though! :)
