Owl beanie and mobile time!

This last week Ronin has been on "vacation" with Grandma and Grandpa at their boat house all week.  He has been loving being on the river and going for boat rides and playing in the sand.  One evening he and daddy even went for a tube ride on the river, in which Grandpa accidentally dumped them in the water.  Ronin was a champ though and didn't cry or get upset.  I am sad I didn't get to see his first time tubing though!  I was at home resting.

I went in for an emergency check-up on Friday, afraid I was leaking amniotic water.  Fortunately that wasn't the case, and Quinn, or "Kung-Fu-Panda" as I'm going to refer to him, just enjoys kicking me repeatedly in the bladder all. day. long.  ugh.  But the doctor said I did exactly what they would expect me to do - get checked out because it's hard to tell if it's nothing or something serious.  And something about something being fully dialated, but the inner part that counts is 0% dialated, which is normal for a 2nd pregnancy... I should really re-read all this pregnancy stuff!  She also informed me that I'm slightly anemic - which my other doctor hasn't discussed with me at all... maybe that accounts for my total lack of energy lately?  Probably not... I think just being pregnant is enough!

I finally recieved the owl beanie my mom ordered for little Quinn, it is SO cute!  I can't wait for him to wear it :)  I sent one just like it to another friend who is having a boy -- just wait -you'll see them everywhere soon!

Owl Beanie

Over the weekend we did a little garage saling, so of course Rory got "antique" things he's trying to resell on Ebay, and Ronin got a rock, a yard stick (both free- thank goodness) and a really cool Star Wars light saber for cheap.  During one of our garage sale drives we wound up taking an hour drive up to Larch mountain and back down around Lucia falls by mistake, but it was a nice drive in the woods anyway... and I told Ronin about BigFoot and now he's afraid BigFoot lives by our house... even though I explained he stays in the woods and may or may not eat hikers... poor kid.

Ronin and I worked on some crafts yesterday, I finished Quinns mobile and hung it on the ceiling.  Ronin wants me to finish his for him since he's bored of punching the shapes and poking holes in shapes to be hung...  and he's still going through the babies room taking toys out and telling me he's been "looking for these for weeks!".  It's so funny how he really never played with those toys as a baby and now that he is bigger he thinks they are fun.

Quinns mobile - butterflies and owls.

That was about it for our week... I had to order a Phineas and Ferb book (used) for Ronin because he's become obsessed with that cartoon lately.  And I think we'll have to add a childrens microphone & stand to his Christmas list since he's been running around the house with his little radio/microphone Aunt Tammie gave him singing as loud as he can!  It's very cute and I need to catch him in action when I have fresh batteries in my video recorder!

I hope everyones week is a good one!  Lots of love!

Watermelon Love

August 23, 2011

I had our 28 week check-up last week, everything is good…  I scheduled another ultra sound to check on little Quinn’s kidney.  In our last ultra-sound it showed a slightly smaller kidney and they need to make sure it caught up to the other kidney or it could be a problem in the future for him.

The baby bump

Last week we went for a bike ride.  I’m amazed I can still bend over to reach the handles… haha  We stopped at the school to let Ronin play, he told us he can climb the ladders now that he’s a teenager…  Such a grown up in his own mind. Hehe

I’ve been workin on the baby’s room a little bit at a time… I’m also working on a baby mobile that I can hang from the ceiling, Ronin is getting in on it too and is starting his own… when It’s done I’ll post pictures J

Last weekend we got to visit my parents (Nana & Papa) in Goldendale.  Ronin had so much fun playing with Tina, the little pug and even tried to fly a kite Nana gave him.  He also likes to ride Nana's exercise bike saying he needs the exercise.  At one point he sat out on the front porch and told Papa he didn’t want to come in because he was practicing being a Garden Gnome.  He got this idea from his new favorite cartoon “Phineas & Ferb”… in which he also got another quirky idea from – naming everything he plays with with “inator” at the end.  For example, he was playing with magnets – but he called them “magnet-inators”…  a watering pot became his “water-inator”…  fork-inators, marker-inators… you get the picture.  It cracks me up!  I told him his imagination is so good that it leaks out of his head as wax, he told me he doesn’t want to wash the wax out anymore now.  doh!

Ronin getting his exercise

We had a great time with Nana and Papa and he didn’t want to leave.  He even got to go to the river for a bit on our way home that night, where Grandma Jan let him have a watermelon to take home to eat…  unfortunately he won’t let us eat the watermelon!  He said he loves the watermelon and doesn’t want to cut it open…

Monday we took the day off for a family day at home.  We did a little window shopping and Ronin found a pair of frog swim goggles for $1.50—he pretty much wore them for the rest of the day, despite them fogging up, making it hard for him to see where he is going…  He said they make him a super-hero.  I’m surprised he didn’t call them his goggle-inators…   After his nap Ronin really wanted to go bowling and go to Chuck-E-Cheese… since we couldn’t do both we decided to go bowling.  I was so proud of him for walking straight through all the brightly lit up and thundering games to go to the bowling alley part of Big Al’s.  We thought for sure he’d get distracted and want to play with the games…  But he had his heart set on bowling.  He and I played 10 frames, he did so good carrying the ball and shoving it down the alley!  Although he hated the bowling shoes and told me they were too girly (where does he get this stuff!?).

His froggy goggles

Not too bad for a 3 year old!

That was about it… here are some photos "Ronin the photographer" took all by himself, including turning the camera on to black and white (I don't even know how to do that!)  Enjoy!

An artistic take of Daddy's coffee...

He was so tickled that he took a picture of his pirate book... complete with his little toes :)

And of course... his watermelon

Lots of love,

First day of blogging..

August 15, 2011

I've decided to blog about events and milestones instead of handwriting in my journal I keep for Ronin and Quinn...  The time I get alone to handwrite anything more than "we need milk" is getting really sparse... and the amount of time I sit at a computer gives me more of an opportunity to write.

Ronin is 3 1/2 years old now, and expecting his little brother, Quinn, in November.  Ronin says so many funny things I hope I can remember some of them when I sit to blog so I don't forget them!  He is so clever and comes up with the funniest things to tell us!  He's quite the story teller (like his mommy!) and also quite onry (like his daddy!).

The other day we passed by the hospital and I said "there's where you were born, and where your brother will be born too!"  and he said that he hopes his brother comes out with clothes on.  I said that no, he'd be born naked but the nurses would quickly clean him up and dress him and wrap him in a blanket.  He said "Good, because I don't want to see his doodle".  He also mentioned that we have to get a diaper changing pad because he doesn't know where his is, I said we could just change him on his bed - he thought a better idea would be to change his baby brother on the roof.

This last weekend we got to go to the county fair. He's been every year but this year he really enjoyed it.  Ate an elephant ear and some noodles, drank some strawberry lemonade.  Got to float around in a bubble in a pool, collected stamps to enter a drawing for $1,000, rode on 3 carnival rides, and even had daddy win him a huge inflatable sword.  We were so busy walking and doing things we forgot to check on the baby piggies or watch the demolition derby!   Oh well... next year!

He rode his little tricycle to the park yesterday and we had to move the seat all the way back... he says he's not ready to ride his big boy bike Santa got him for Christmas...  But I think it would be easier for him to ride and he'd go faster.  oh well... no harm in letting him enjoy his tryke a little longer.   He's getting so good at climbing things too!  At the park I don't get that nervous flutter I used to get when he'd try climbing the toys... he's pretty sure footed and can get around like a little monkey!  He's so much fun to watch playing at the parks - he just smiles and smiles and really loves doing his own thing.   We are so proud of how he's grown up already.   Although I wish I could stop time sometimes and enjoy him this little for a while longer.

Quinn is growing and I can tell already he's going to be a nocturnal little boy...   He's mostly quiet during the day, and at night when I relax and get ready for bed it's parade time in my belly.  He also enjoys the occasional stomp on my bladder.  Sometimes it feels like he's going to kick his way out and it takes me a minute to recoop!   Not as many hiccups as I had with Ronin - although the heartburn is the same if not worse!  At least the migraines have gone away.

The nursery is still in dissaray... I haven't gotten that "nesting" sensation quite yet, but know that my time is running out to get it ready... I'm hoping to work on it a little at a time in the next month...  movement is getting pretty uncomfortable for me so the sooner the better!

Well that's it for my first blog post.  I plan on adding pictures too!  I'm not sure who's reading this, but it's a good way to look into a day in our lives :)

And here are some Clark County Fair pictures:

By the way - I found the coolest online photo editing software at http://www.fotoflexer.com/ that's where I edited these photo's to make them look so good :)
