A few weekends ago we went to Nana and Papa's house for a visit. The boys got to color eggs and find them in the yard. Before we went that weekend Quinn would ask if he could have a "Snackeez" cup every morning before I went to work. I finally told him we'd go to Walmart and get them with their Valentines day money. The only ones they had were "Frozen" ones from the movie. They were pretty happy with that choice though. Each time he uses the cup I have to add something in the snack container as well. haha

One night I bought a butternut squash to bake for a casserole -- I showed Quinn the squash and asked if he remembered the last one we bought how he carried it around and didn't want us to cook it. He laughed and asked to hold the new squash. Bella and Ronin then wanted to cuddle with a squash-- I didn't have more so I handed them huge jugs of apple juice. They disappeared and then called me into Quinns room, where they had the items wrapped in blankets and were acting like they were their babies. haha! I laughed and laughed and shared the info and picture with Bella's mom. See- boys can play with baby-dolls too! They just can't LOOK like real babies. ;)

The weather is getting nicer! I've been walking with Quinn into the cul-de-sac so he can play with the neighbors too. This makes him super happy! He's getting really good at riding his bike everywhere. Sometimes he puts his helmet on backwards though... but so does Ronin. haha

A couple of weeks ago we were having dinner and playing when suddenly Quinn started holding his ear crying that it hurt. I took him to urgent care and he had a bad ear infection. Poor guy- no warning at all. I think he's pretty resilient to pain and didn't notice until it was bad. The people in the waiting room were SO sweet with him, some of them were trying to distract him because he kept crying into my chest "mommy, it hurts, when can I see the doctor?". One lady heard him say he was thirsty and gave up her unopened bottle of water to him. I noticed that people who were there ahead of us kept going up to the receptionist and I found out through the nurse that those people were giving up their spot in line so he could get seen earlier. That was such a selfless thing for people to do, I didn't know people still cared about others like that. It restored my faith in people a little bit.

That week Bella had an Easter party at her house. Her mom and I hid the eggs for the kids to find and they played for quite a while. It was a nice get together for the kids :) I also got to know Gigi (Bella's mom) a little better and am so happy she's one of my neighbors, she's a very positive friend to have.

Shilo's little sister, Avaya, is about the same age as Quinn. They seem quite fond of each other. Shilo and Avaya came over to play one afternoon and when they left Quinn ran to the fence and reached out his hands screaming "AVAYA! come back!!!" haha I should have recorded it! It was too funny.

Easter weekend! Saturday we went to an Easter egg hung that my work put on. Mostly they got chocolate, but Quinn's age group had some random toys in their hunt too. Ronin really wanted to get the egg with the prize ticket for the newest Kindle Fire. Silly electronics-driven boy! Okay, I kind of wanted it too.. haha

Easter morning the boys woke up to Easter colanders stuffed with noodles and gifts from the Flying Spaghetti Monster! The boys laughed when they saw their stuff. And hey- now we have more strainers for the kitchen!

After breakfast we got ready and headed to Oaks Amusement Park. It was empty there which make it the perfect day to go! We will have to make it an Easter event from now on. The boys had a blast! I might need to bring one more person next time - since Ronin was big enough and brave enough to ride the bigger rides, but I couldn't go with him if Quinn didn't want to go too - and after the Scrambler, Quinn did NOT want to ride any of the bigger rides. haha He didn't like the Scrambler one bit. I thought he would but he said it went too fast. haha Poor guy! They got to throw darts at posters to win a poster -- Ronin took about 3 tries to get the dart in his MineCraft poster (they let them keep trying until they get what they want) and Quinn took one shot and nailed his Frozen poster on the first try! But his was the closest poster to the ground, so gravity helped a bit. haha
Aw!
Our first ride was the train... which was way too slow...
Ronin really wanted to ride this one- so he went on it while we watched. I thought it would scare him, but he did great :)
Carousel chicken?
Funny boy
I was waiting for their ride to be over -- so I took my own damn picture.
This was Quinn's FAVORITE ride, I think he rode it 5 or 6 times.
It was so nice that day!
Monday we decided to go to the zoo to see the new Lion exhibit and ride the train. Bella was able to come with us too. The kids did really good! Quinn was starting to get tired right before we left, and when we'd ask if he wanted to see something, like the giraffes or zebras he'd adamantly tell me "no! I don't want to see giraffes!!" I'm so glad I brought the stroller for him...
The 6 minute train ride that cost $2 each!! It used to be much longer :(
Baboons!
Giraffes! Bella was able to talk Quinn into posing after he protested the giraffes...
This monkey scared the kids-- he wasn't at the window and they had their faces pressed against the glass when he came rushing at them making them scream. haha
We FINALLY saw bears that weren't sleeping!! They look like they are having a deep discussion.
This monkey likes to read magazines apparently...

We did a few crafts on spring break- one of them was making sharpie-mugs. I still have to heat them in the oven to make them (sort of) permanent.

Our mugs :)
We also weeded and planted our garden over spring break. Watermelon, zucchini, cucumber and sunflower seeds. Our strawberries are doing really well already!

And we got more sand for the sand box :)
One morning after my coffee Quinn and I were cuddling on the couch and he said "Mommy, you smell stinky!" I asked "what do I smell like?" and his answer was "A purple bear." haha I'm sure this came from the fact that we bought Toy Story 3 and there's a purple bear in the movie. I thought he was supposed to smell like strawberries though. haha
Spring break was really fun and I'm so grateful that I had that time with the boys and didn't go to work. I'm sure the boys needed this time, but I had no idea how much I needed it too. They are growing up so fast. I wish every week were spring break!
Lots of love,
C
